How we work

1.Virtual therapy sessions

Live video therapy sessions

This involves having sessions using online platforms with the videos on. Some of the platforms used include but not limited to WhatsApp, zoom, teams, skype, google-meet and or any other platforms agreed upon by the client and the therapist at the contracting stage. This is the most preferred method as it helps to replicate the feel of a physical session. It helps create a better bond and working relationship. In addition, the therapist can observe body language and facial expressions that are helpful in the assessment. A session would go for about 45-60 mins.

Live audio therapy sessions

This involves having sessions using online platforms without the videos on. Some of the platforms used include but not limited to WhatsApp, zoom, teams, skype, google-meet and or any other platforms agreed upon by the client and the therapist at the contracting stage. Clients who adopt this method, are probably not in a good position to have their videos on which is understandable. It helps to create a human touch and real time responses and observations however limits observation on the body language and facial expressions which are crucial in the assessment.

Text therapy

This is currently mainly limited to WhatsApp texting or normal phone. Here, the client is allowed to drop a message, query at any point and the therapist gets to respond as soon as they can within 24 hours. This option is highly recommended for clients in a crisis, suicidal clients, those dealing with anxiety, feelings of self-harm or harming others as well as clients undergoing depression. This option is open to everyone and acts as a bonus option should clients want to communicate with their therapist in between sessions. It also helps in dealing with emerging issues clients may experience in between their scheduled sessions.

Phone call therapy sessions

This is an option available across the working hours which are between 8am-8p.m East African time every day of the week. Our therapists will be available to schedule sessions with clients at their convenience. Since we care about your finances and cost, we highly recommend this is used as the last resort unless the client feels that this is the only option available for them. This is because, the cost of having a phone call may be on the higher side and we want you to have your session without worrying about running out of airtime.

Email therapy

This is an option for people who feel that they communicate best through writing/ journaling. We have our email address through which clients can send through their write ups. The therapist then reads and reverts to them on email. It can be tasking and lacks direct and real time human interaction which is a key aspect in therapy. We, however, encourage clients to explore this avenue as an additional tool to other avenues. Writing is an effective tool in therapy when combined with other techniques such as verbal communication.

Audio recording therapy

This is an option available where clients can record themselves on audio and share the same with the therapist who then gives feedback in an audio format. It is a quicker way for the client to communicate compared to writing. It also helps the therapist to assess the tonal variation that adds value in understanding the client better. This however may lack real time responses as the therapist has to listen in to the entire recording before giving any feedback. It also minimizes human interactions which are critical in therapy. We, however, encourage clients to explore this avenue as an additional tool to other avenues. It especially helps to keep interactions and communication of any emerging issues in between the scheduled sessions or during a text therapy session.

2.Physical therapy sessions

Outdoor therapy

This is a one-on-one therapy session that is conducted in an outdoor space such as in a picnic site, restaurants, during a nature walk, a hike, a cycling activity etc. This option is useful to clients who feel more relaxed when interacting with nature. It is however more expensive and involves more time.

Therapy room sessions

This is done as the traditional way where the client visits the offices, and the sessions are done in the rooms. This option has great human interaction, ability to observe facial expressions, body language, tonal variation, dress code etc that are all necessary in therapy. It is slightly demanding in terms of time. However, just like any other session, a session would take 45-60 mins.
